Faculty in charge

Its my privilege and a matter of great pride to be the faculty in-charge of Society of biological engineers (SBE), UIET chapter. Being the first student chapter in Asia, it is a milestone for UIET, biotechnology students. It reflects the effort and valued thoughts of the founder members. After a lot of hardships and hard work over a period of 6 months, the student chapter was finally approved from technical committee of AIChE. It will act as a portal of knowledge and harbinger of innovation, giving a much needed boost to the biotechnology domain of UIET. With SBE in place a biotechnology community will come into being benefitting the students through sharing and promoting ideas and knowledge in this field. I hope that the SBE team will continue with the good work and bring laurels and glory to the institute. Good wishes to all.

The biotechnology students at SBE-UIET are doing a commendable job of spreading across awareness amongst the student community at Panjab University and India.Their efforts so far have borne fruit with many successful events like Mobile Quiz, Bio-Paradigm, BioXposition.I also appreciate the efforts made towards inculcating scientific reading habits through the tabloid 'Bread Butter DNA' and the magazine 'Biogenesis'. I whole heartedly support all their initiatives and congratulate them for making their presence felt in the past two years..

The previous year at SBE UIET has been life defining for me. It helped me button down my strengths and weaknesses. I got acquainted with work culture and learnt how to tackle time constraints. At the end of the year, I'm a satisfied individual and have been able to bring out the best in me. Down the memory lane, I remember myself as a fresher in college who was enthusiastic about making his presence felt. SBE UIET gave me a platform to prove myself. For the coming year I want to provide this opportunity to many such freshers like me who need that “push” to turn their aspirations into reality!

Right from the day I took up this post, the experience has enriched me as a person with every passing day. It surely means a lot of hard work and responsibility especially after SBE's successful two year term under the leadership of Nishant Garg and the founding members. The bar was set really high by the SBE team and my prime motive is to surpass the standards with the constant support of the faculty, my fellow colleagues and the SBE members. A special Thank You to Aman Kalra (Treasurer Elect) for being a constant pillar of support.

15th Sept 2009, the day my dream came true, a dream to form a channel for interaction among biotech students, a platform to display their skills and this could not have come true in a better form than SBE UIET, under the aegis of AIChE. It being the first international student chapter of SBE in ASIA was the icing on the cake though it also meant that job would be tougher and challenging. Today as I look back at the first two years of SBE UIET, I feel a sense of pride and satisfaction.

It was the talented and hardworking team of SBE UIET that made this herculean task possible. Congratulations GUYS. To have had a chance to interact and work with the best minds around was an enriching experience. Thank you. I would also like to thank the entire faculty of UIET, members of SBE UIET and my friends and co founders for believing in me and contributing towards the success of SBE UIET. I would also like to congratulate Pranay Madan (President Elect, 2011-2012) and Amanpreet Kalra (Treasurer Elect, 2011-2012) for doing a tremendous job throughout the year for SBE UIET and I wish them success for the coming year. I am sure that with your efforts, SBE UIET shall achieve greater heights in near future..
